The

Challenge

Traditional joint accounts in Mexico often present challenges for millennial couples:

  • Limited access: Typically, only one partner receives a debit card, potentially causing friction if the other needs immediate cash but cannot reach their partner for approval.

  • Breakup complexities: Joint account management during a separation can be messy and stressful.

Results& Impact

While still in user testing, the proposed features have demonstrated their effectiveness in:

  • Reducing friction: Individual debit cards offer a seamless experience for both partners, eliminating the need for mutual consent when making cash withdrawals.

  • Promoting savings: The Savings Goal module empowers users to set personalized withdrawal limits, discouraging impulsive spending and encouraging financial discipline.

  • Simplifying bill management: The Money Control module streamlines routine financial tasks, saving users time and effort.

  • Adapting to evolving needs: The dynamic trust assessment feature allows couples to customize their account settings based on their changing relationship dynamics, ensuring a personalized and relevant experience.
